Manchester United goalkeeper Sam Johnstone will be back at Aston Villa for the 2017/18 season after agreeing a season-long loan deal.
The 24-year-old made 22 appearances for the Championship side last term, having arrived on loan in January, and he will now spend the whole season at Villa Park.
“I am delighted to be back,” Johnstone told the Aston Villa website.
“I really enjoyed my last spell here – it’s a great club with top players and passionate fans.
“I can’t wait to get started now.
“I believe it can be a special season for all of us and I will be working hard each and every day to produce the kind of performances that will help us achieve what we’re aiming for.”
Johnstone has previously spent time on loan with Scunthorpe, Walsall, Yeovil, Doncaster and Preston, and has been capped by England at U16, U17, U19 and U20 level.
