Russian lobbyist admits meeting Trump Jr
14 July 2017 world-news
A Russian-American lobbyist has admitted he attended a meeting with Donald Trump’s son in 2016.
Rinat Akhmetshin confirmed his participation at the same meeting Mr Trump Jr had with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya.
He said the discussion was billed as part of a Russian government effort to help the Republican during last year’s Presidential election campaign.
The latest revelation adds another shift in the tale that has sparked controversy over Donald Trump’s ties to Russia.
Mr Trump Jr. did not disclose Mr Akhmetshin’s presence in statements and emails he released on the meeting earlier this week.
Jared Kushner, Mr Trump’s son-in-law and current White House senior adviser, and then-campaign chairman Paul Manafort also attended the discussion.
