14 July 2017 National News

Police in London say they are investigating four separate acid attacks within 90 minutes in the east of the city.

All four incidents are being treated as linked.

The first attack happened at 10.25pm on Hackney Road when two men on a moped threw acid in the face of another moped driver.

One of the attackers stole the victim’s moped, while the other made off on the bike they arrived on.

The second attack took place at 11.05pm when two men on a moped threw acid in the face of a person on Shoreditch High Street.

At 11.18pm officers were called to a robbery on Cazenove Road where a man had been hit with “a corrosive substance”. His injuries are said to be life-changing.

Twenty minutes later on Chatsworth Road a man had been on his moped in traffic when two males on another moped pulled up alongside him and sprayed liquid in his face. They stole his moped and made off.

No arrests have been made, police said.
