Kevin Pietersen expects this summer’s T20 Blast campaign with Surrey to be his last in English cricket.

The former Test star announced in March he had signed up for a Surrey return two years after he last played for the county in first-class cricket.

Pietersen has graced the world’s top T20 tournaments in recent years but is planning to spend more time back in South Africa from next summer.

He said: “Next year I’m building a house in the Kruger national park so all of next summer I will be at my house in South Africa – so I won’t be playing in England. I think this will be my last stint in England.

“Surrey have been so good to me, I was in there the other day doing a photoshoot with someone and it felt like I hadn’t left the dressing room but I hadn’t been there in 18 months.

“I go back training in a couple of weeks time and I can’t wait, it is something I’m looking forward to, it is not a schlep, it is something I am really excited about.”

Pietersen will available for Surrey’s big Friday night fixtures against Middlesex on July 21 and Glamorgan on August 4 as well as the game against Sussex on Sunday, August 13, all of which are live on .

He will also be available if Surrey reach the knockout stages of the competition.
