Battaash showed his rivals a clean pair of heels as he triumphed in the Randox Health Scurry Stakes at Sandown.

Trained by Charlie Hills and ridden by Dane O’Neill, Battaash was sent off an 11/1 shot as he made his seasonal bow in the five-furlong Listed heat.

Third in the Cornwallis Stakes on his final start in 2016, Battaash appeared to be travelling well from some way out, with O’Neill really pushing on approaching the furlong market.

Battaash responded in style, pulling a length and a quarter clear of the fast-finishing Koropick at the line with 7-2 favourite Copper Knight a further length and three-quarters back in third.
